RESIDENTIAL
The renovation project focused on the recovery of a building located in the heart of a small historic center, transforming it into a modern, functional home that meets contemporary needs. The residence develops over three levels, with pedestrian and vehicular access on the ground floor, which also features an internal courtyard leading to the garages and ancillary rooms. However, the true essence of the house reveals itself on the first and second floors, where daily life unfolds.
The two upper floors are connected by an internal staircase situated in the living room, serving as a fluid connection between the different spaces. The second floor is characterized by a spacious attic that houses the bedrooms and overlooks the living room and kitchen through a wooden and metal mezzanine. This mezzanine not only offers a unique perspective of the spaces below but also creates a visual and spatial dialogue among the various areas, imparting a sense of openness and continuity.
At the heart of the house, the fireplace serves as a focal point, both functionally and symbolically. The fire, visible from the entire living area, provides uniform warmth to the spaces, becoming the beating heart of the home. Its presence evokes the ancestral idea of fire as the vital center of the house—an element that unites and creates a sense of warmth and welcome.
One of the most captivating aspects of the project is the respect for the building’s historical soul. The ancient entrance portal, which leads into the internal courtyard, has been recovered and enhanced, along with the brick and stone walls that preserve the memory of the past. These details, integrated into a modern context, elevate the dialogue between tradition and contemporary design, giving the house a unique character.
