The “Blacksmith’s Studio” project stands out for its ability to reinterpret a traditional context through contemporary architecture, integrating functionality and quality of living. Located in a small town, the building is developed across three floors and houses five apartments, each designed to provide spacious, light-filled environments and a strong connection between interior and exterior.
The central idea of the project is the creation of volumes that interact with one another, defined by setbacks at the living areas, which give rise to large outdoor terraces. These spaces are conceived as natural extensions of the living areas, where light and air become integral to daily life. The expansive glass facades open the interiors to the outdoors, maximizing natural light while creating a visual continuity between the indoor spaces and the surrounding landscape.
The facade results from a careful volumetric composition, where elements such as parapets and balconies are designed to create a rhythmic sequence and a strong identity for the building. The frames and projecting volumes not only define the space but also visually connect the different floors, creating a harmonious verticality. Strategically placed metal sunshades in front of the sun-exposed windows not only regulate light intake but also address current climatic needs, helping to mitigate internal overheating and improve energy efficiency.
Particular attention has also been given to the penthouses located on the third floor, which offer a privileged view of the town. These units represent the focal point of the residential proposal, thanks to their dominant position that allows for panoramic views, enhancing the living experience.
The “Blacksmith’s Studio” is based on the idea of an architecture that blends architectural quality and sustainability, where design choices aim to offer comfortable and bright living spaces while maintaining a connection to the local context through a distinctly modern architectural language.
